McLaren Vale is where we began and is home to our 'Jimmy Section Shiraz',
'Cabernet Sauvignon' and 'Petite Sirah', or 'Durif' as it is often called. This vineyard was established in the early 1970s.

NINE GUMS VINEYARD
The eight hectare (20 acres) Nine Gums Vineyard nestles under the rolling Willunga Hills on Almond Grove Road at Willunga, Four hectares were planted in 1996 with shiraz vines (clone 1654) and three hectares were planted with the same shiraz clone cuttings in 1998. The vineyard planting was concluded towards the end of 2001 with the one acre home block.
Purchased in December 2016, the rich Urrbrea loam soil, combined with the afternoon gully breezes, gives us another premium producing vineyard to complement our portfolio.

($40) Inky purple. Cassis, blackberry and blueberry scents are complemented by sexy notes of mocha and oak spices. Concentrated, sharply delineated and seamless, with excellent lift to its flavors of blackberry, Indian spices, candied flowers and dark chocolate. Closes focused and long, with resonating spiciness, a touch of violet pastille and very soft tannins.

Brilliant violet. An exotically perfumed bouquet evokes fresh blackberry, boysenberry, potpourri and incense, along with exotic Moroccan spice qualities that gain power as the wine opens up. Densely packed but lively as well, offering sappy black and blue fruit liqueur and spice cake flavors and suggestions of cola and mocha. The floral and spice notes repeat strongly on the impressively long, sweet finish, which is framed by supple tannins that fold quickly into the energetic fruit. -- Josh Raynolds

Opaque ruby. Expansive, spice-accented blueberry and cherry liqueur aromas are sharpened by a smoky mineral element and a hint of cracked pepper. Juicy, appealingly sweet black and blue fruit flavors show very good depth as well as energy and pick up a sexy floral quality with aeration. Supple and seamless on the long, subtly tannic finish, which echoes the blue fruit and floral notes. -- Josh Raynolds

The 2014 Red Silk Shiraz has a deep garnet color and nose of baked blackberries and black plums with mocha, earth and licorice suggestions. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated in the mouth, it delivers a lot of flavor and gorgeously soft tannins, finishing with a lively lift.

The firm dark berry, espresso and black walnut flavors have a spicy side, with clove and sarsaparilla notes. This has plenty of oomph on the finish. Drink now through 2027.
